The hotel

The last chapter of Madinat Jumeirah.

Jumeirah began building on this stretch of coast in 1997 with the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, then the Burj Al Arab and Madinat Jumeirah, a resort of more than forty hectares laced with 5.4 kilometres of waterways. Al Naseem, which opened on 1 December 2016, finished the work. Its name is Arabic for breeze, and the South African firms Northpoint and DSGN drew on dunes, pearl diving and Bedouin life for the building and its rooms.

Its lagoon is no ornament. Since 2004 Jumeirah has run the Dubai Turtle Rehabilitation Project with the Dubai Wildlife Protection Office, and the 150-metre lagoon at Al Naseem is where rescued turtles regain their strength before release. Restaurants were set around it from the start, Katsuya among them, in a room by Philippe Starck. Turtle feeding sessions and a trail of native fish around the water were planned from the first months.

  • The turtles A 150-metre lagoon where sea turtles in rehabilitation live until they can be returned to the wild.
  • Adults-only pool The Orchid Lounge pool is kept for adults, ringed by rooms with direct access to the water.
  • The whole resort Abras run along the canals of Madinat Jumeirah, so the restaurants and the souk of the neighbouring hotels are a boat ride away.
