The hotel
Old Jumeirah, with its feet in the sand.
When it opened in 2019, this was the first Mandarin Oriental in the Emirates. It sits on Jumeirah Beach Road, in Jumeira 1, the beachfront resort nearest the financial district. Step onto the sand and the Arabian Gulf is in front of you, with the Burj Khalifa rising behind the low villas of the old quarter.
Jeffrey Wilkes designed the interiors, and most rooms open onto a balcony or a terrace. It is a modest size for Dubai: 251 rooms and suites, five pools, a spa of two thousand square metres. On the sixth floor, Tasca by José Avillez holds a MICHELIN star, and the hotel itself holds a MICHELIN Key.
- Tasca's terrace Portuguese cooking around an open kitchen on the sixth floor, with an infinity pool along the terrace and the sea and the city on either side.
- The Spa Two thousand square metres, nine treatment rooms with their own changing and bathroom facilities, two of them for couples, some with terraces over the sea.
- Beach and five pools A private beach in front of the hotel and five pools, with Little Nomads, the kids' club, for children aged three to ten.
Rooms & suites
A balcony over the Gulf, or the whole top floor.
Rooms look out over the Arabian Gulf or back to the skyline, and the bathrooms are marble, with deep soaking tubs and walk-in showers.
- Sea or skyline Rooms Between 53 and 65 square metres, most with a private balcony, from the Superior Room to the Premier Sea View Room.
- One or two bedrooms Suites Seventy-seven suites from 89 square metres, from the Junior Sea View Suite to two-bedroom suites facing the sea.
