The hotel
A palace among the canals.
Al Qasr means the palace, and the hotel was built in 2004 on the model of a sheikh's residence: arched windows, carved columns, antiques in the rooms and marble in the bathrooms. It stands within Madinat Jumeirah, a resort of more than forty hectares where 5.4 kilometres of canals connect the hotels, the souk and the restaurants. Talise Spa, with twenty-six treatment rooms, belongs to the same estate.
Most of the 294 rooms and suites have a balcony over the canals or the gardens, and some look across the water to the Burj Al Arab. Guests move about by abra, the wooden boats of the old Creek, and one of them takes you to dinner at Pai Thai. In front of the hotel runs a private beach about a mile long.
- Pierchic A seafood restaurant built out over the water on a pier.
- Talise Spa Twenty-six treatment rooms, massage and reflexology, and a hammam ritual that uses 24-carat gold.
- By boat Abras run along the canals to the souk and the other hotels of the resort.
