The hotel
A colonial town above the sea.
Sanctuary has stood on the Cap Cana coast for more than fifteen years. Its main buildings, the Colonial section, are laid out like a small Spanish colonial town on a cliff above the sea, and some of the suites open straight onto a pool. The Castle section has its own check-in under a double-height lobby, about two dozen villas are scattered through the grounds, and Sanctuary Town, across from the main lobby, has restaurants and shops of its own.
In September 2022 the resort became the first all-inclusive in Marriott's Luxury Collection, and Marriott's first luxury all-inclusive anywhere. Hurricane Fiona struck that same month, and repairs held the opening back until early 2023. The grandest address is the Castle Island Suite: 5,500 square feet on two levels on a private island, with two bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms and three indoor plunge pools.

Flying to Punta Cana.
Punta Cana International (PUJ) is 14 km away, about 15 minutes by car. Private jets also land at PUJ, where since May 2026 the airport's own team handles every private movement, from customs to the transfer; La Romana, about 79 km west, is the other choice.
