The hotel
A free-form tower in steel.
Morpheus opened on 15 June 2018 as the third phase of Melco's City of Dreams. Zaha Hadid Architects designed it with Leigh & Orange, and it was billed as the first free-form high-rise held up by an exoskeleton. Some 28,000 tonnes of steel and aluminium wrap the forty storeys, which rise to 153.7 metres and hold 772 rooms and nine villas.
Because the outer frame carries the loads, the inside needs few columns. Skybridges cross three voids in the middle of the tower, and the lobby atrium climbs 35 metres. Peter Remedios designed the rooms. The project cost about 1.1 billion US dollars. At the top, a pool on the fortieth floor sits about 130 metres above the ground, and the spa keeps a Snow Garden of real snow.
- The sky pool A rooftop pool on the fortieth floor, about 130 metres above the ground.
- Morpheus Spa A Forbes Five-Star spa in 2026, with a spa butler and a Snow Garden of real snow.
- Art on 23 A floor given over to the hotel's collection of modern art.
