The hotel

Japanese hospitality in Cotai.

Hotel Okura Macau opened on 15 May 2011, on the day Galaxy Macau first opened its doors, and was the first luxury hotel from Japan in the city. It rises twenty-nine floors, with 488 rooms and suites. Rooms on the inner side look down on the Grand Resort Deck and its wave pool; those on the outer side face Hengqin and mainland China.

The house idea is what Okura calls Japanese hospitality: traditional Japanese service with the comforts of a large modern hotel. Rooms use Japanese screens, rugs hand-tufted in a bamboo pattern, paper lamps, light wood, silk and stone. Most bathrooms have a deep tub with a separate rain shower, and the suites add a sauna, a steam room and a Jacuzzi. In 2026 Forbes Travel Guide rated the hotel five stars for the fifth year running.

  • Yamazato The hotel's Japanese restaurant, for kaiseki, sushi and a daily grill menu, beside a Japanese garden.
  • Suites with a sauna Okura suites come with their own sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi, and a Japanese heated toilet.
  • Indoor pool A heated indoor pool and Jacuzzi looking across to Hengqin, with Galaxy Macau's wave pool outside.
