The hotel

Imperial carpets and a crystal chandelier.

MGM Cotai opened to the public on 13 February 2018 with about 1,400 rooms. The Emerald Tower has its own lobby of emerald and ivory marble under a crystal chandelier. Works from the MGM Cotai Art Collection hang throughout, more than three hundred pieces across the resort, among them 28 imperial carpets from the Qing dynasty. Forbes Travel Guide has rated the tower Five-Star five years in a row.

The rooms take their colours from rosewood and mix Chinese taste with Western comfort. Ceilings rise to 3.3 metres. At the top of the tower, 28 villas modelled on Chinese imperial gardens have their own lift and a butler on call day and night. Below sits Spectacle, the resort's central hall, with its walls of LED screens and an indoor garden of more than 100,000 plants, two hundred kinds of orchid among them.
