The hotel
A new name on Arden Street.
For years this corner of Arden and Carr Streets was the Crowne Plaza Coogee Beach. Its owners, Salter Brothers, and IHG rebuilt it as an InterContinental, the brand's first beachfront hotel in Sydney, and the first rooms opened in December 2025. The design takes its cue from the shoreline: curved joinery, soft whites, pale timber and glass from wall to wall.
A second stage, on the roof, was set for March 2026: an infinity pool facing the ocean, a pool bar, a spa and the Club InterContinental lounge. Rick Stein chose the hotel for his Sydney debut. Within a year of opening the MICHELIN Guide gave the hotel a Key, in the 2026 Australian selection. Shutters, the other restaurant, cooks Australian food with Mediterranean influences.
- Rick Stein at Coogee Beach The British chef's first Sydney restaurant, 224 seats of seafood cooked simply, with Colin Chun as head chef.
- Pool and rooftop bar An infinity pool heated all year, with private cabanas, and a rooftop bar that looks over the beach.
- Outdoor baths Each of the 22 suites has floor-to-ceiling glass, a bath outdoors and a separate living room.
