The hotel
A tobacco merchant's warehouse.
Hugh Dixson, tobacco manufacturer and philanthropist, commissioned the brick building on Castlereagh Street in 1876 as the factory and warehouse of Dixson & Sons. Later the furniture makers WW Campbell & Co and the leather merchants George Johnson & Sons took it on. Five levels of it now hold places to eat and drink, a short walk from Hyde Park. Its brick arches still face the street.
Behind it rises a 36-storey tower by Angelo Candelapas of Candelapas Associates, with the hotel on its first ten floors and 131 apartments above. Its curved windows repeat the brick arches of the old building, and a walkway links the two. The hotel opened in 2022 as Accor's 400th in Australia and the Pacific, and in 2026 it gained its first MICHELIN Key.
- The pool A heated outdoor pool on level 11, in a rooftop garden, open from 5 am to 10 pm.
- Lee Ho Fook Chinese cooking reworked with Australian produce and wine, in a modern, playful room.
- The merchants' trade Leather on the armchairs and wardrobes recalls the tobacco and leather traders who once used the building.
Rooms & suites
Leather, blush and mushroom tones.
