The hotel
Under the bridge, facing the Opera House.
Park Hyatt Sydney goes back to 1990, on a strip of waterfront in The Rocks where the Harbour Bridge comes down to land. The building is low, only four floors, and it sits so close to the water that the Opera House fills the view across Sydney Cove. Circular Quay is a short walk round the shore.
In 2011 the hotel closed for more than ten months, and everything inside the outer walls was rebuilt. The Melbourne studio BARStudio did the interiors, the base was rebuilt in Sydney sandstone, and a new fourth floor added three rooftop suites. It reopened on 5 March 2012 with 155 rooms, most of them with a balcony.
- The roof A small pool open from sunrise to sunset, and a heated spa pool looking straight at the Opera House.
- Butlers A butler service runs around the clock, and the MICHELIN inspectors singled out the staff.
- The Spa Five treatment rooms and two aromatherapy steam rooms, with a gym open 24 hours.
