The hotel
Sofitel's first resort in Greater China.
The resort opened on Haitang Bay in January 2016, the first Sofitel resort in Greater China. Haitang Bay lies north-east of the city, and the China Duty Free complex is about five kilometres down the road. Inside, the colours run to blue, white and grey, with touches of beige and yellow. A ballroom of 1,100 square metres and a lawn of 5,000 square metres take care of weddings.
Around 85 per cent of the rooms look out to sea. The buildings sit in tropical gardens of 191,000 square metres, laid out around four pools, the largest of them 2,300 square metres with a swim-up bar. There are horses for rides on the beach, and helicopter flights over the bay can be booked from the resort. Indoor parking for 174 cars is included in the stay.
- Four pools A main pool of 2,300 square metres with a swim-up bar, a lagoon pool reached from some rooms, a beach pool facing the sea and a pool for children.
- Sky villas The Imperial Sky Villa has two bedrooms, 550 square metres and a pool of its own.
- Children A free kids' club and a separate children's pool.
