The hotel
Raffles on the Lingshui shore.
Raffles Hainan opened in September 2013 on the coast of Clearwater Bay in Lingshui County, north-east of Sanya. The bay was being built up as a resort district with twelve kilometres of shoreline, two golf courses by Schmidt-Curley and a marina. At opening there were 299 rooms and 32 villas, each with a balcony over the sea or the fairways.
Inside, wood furniture and coloured fabrics draw on the hill tribes of Hainan, and Willow Gallery of Hong Kong chose more than a thousand works of art for the walls. The Long Bar is a nod to the original in Singapore: the bartender credited with the Singapore Sling there came from Hainan. In the evening it serves cocktails and wine to live entertainment.
