The hotel
A summer palace by the sea.
The resort opened on 25 April 2008, presented by Ritz-Carlton as its first true resort in China. WATG designed it on a site of about 150,000 square metres, between the white sand of Yalong Bay and a mangrove reserve, and took the Summer Palace in Beijing as the model: pavilion roofs, high ceilings, dark wood, carving and mosaic.
Thirty-three villas of one to three bedrooms stand in their own gardens, each with a deck and a plunge pool. The spa was built by ESPA across 2,788 square metres and three levels, with 24 treatment rooms arranged around the five Chinese elements. Yalong Bay and Sun Valley golf courses are a few minutes away, and there is an oceanfront wedding chapel in the grounds.
- The spa Three levels and 24 treatment rooms, six of them private suites, with open-air corridors and lotus ponds.
- Five pools Among them a heated pool on the beachfront and a children's pool with a water slide.
- For families Ritz Kids is free, and Uncle Martin's Secret Garden keeps fruit, vegetables and animals for children to visit.
