The hotel
An apartment house turned hotel in 1889.
Francesco Nistelweck opened the Eden in 1889, converting an apartment building on the slope between Via Veneto and Villa Borghese. He was betting that the new railway would bring travellers to Rome. Over the following century the guest book filled with names from Ingrid Bergman to Sigmund Freud, and the hotel stayed a fixture of the quarter around Via Veneto, a short walk from the top of the Spanish Steps.
Dorchester Collection closed it in 2015 for eighteen months of work and reopened it on 1 April 2017. The room count fell from 121 to 98, so each room grew. Bruno Moinard and Claire Bétaille redid the rooms and lobby; Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manku redesigned the restaurants and the spa. Many rooms look over the rooftops of the city or the trees of Villa Borghese.
- La Terrazza The top-floor dining room holds one MICHELIN star, with floor-to-ceiling windows that open to the air and views over the roofs of Rome.
- Il Giardino A second rooftop restaurant and bar in a garden setting, with Italian cooking and cocktails into the evening.
- Eden Spa Private spa suites with Valmont and HöbePergh treatments, and a gym open around the clock.
