The hotel

A hunting lodge that grew.

Daniel and Seraina Lauber, both from Zermatt, opened the CERVO Mountain Boutique Resort at the end of 2009; cervo is Italian for stag. The idea joined Alpine chalet and hunting lodge, and the first phase was five chalets and a restaurant, set on the piste so guests could ski to the door. A sixth chalet and Ferdinand, the Valais restaurant, followed in 2013 and 2014.

In December 2020, ten years on, the resort reopened as CERVO Mountain Resort with a new concept. A seventh lodge came, with a third restaurant and the Ātman Mountain Spa, which replaced the small spas in the separate lodges. The Bavarian studio Dreimeta worked on the design, with yoga and meditation built into the days, and the MICHELIN Guide gives it two Keys.

  • Ātman Mountain Spa An outdoor hot tub in the style of a Japanese onsen with the Matterhorn in view, Bhutanese herbal baths with hot stones, Nordic saunas, a natural cold pool and Mongolian yurts.
  • Ski in, ski out The resort sits on the piste, and its Après Ski bar opens from 3 pm at the end of the slope.
  • Daily practice Yoga, sound baths, sauna infusions and singing-bowl meditation are on the spa programme every day.
