The hotel

Twenty floors up at Grand Front.

InterContinental Osaka opened in June 2013 inside Grand Front Osaka, a new quarter of offices, shops, a convention centre and homes beside Osaka Station. It began with 215 rooms averaging more than fifty square metres, and 57 serviced suites of one to three bedrooms in the same building. Stone, wood and glass set the tone, with shoji screens and timber in the rooms.

Guests arrive at a lobby on the twentieth floor, with the city spread out below. Pierre, the French restaurant, sits beside it behind an open kitchen. Bathrooms have deep tubs set apart from the rain shower. Downstairs, a spa takes its cue from the old onsen bathhouses, and the concierge can book a tea ceremony or a morning with a blade smith.

  • Pierre French cooking with Japanese produce under head chef Yoshitaka Shibahara. The MICHELIN Guide Kyoto Osaka 2026 gave it one star for the tenth year in a row.
  • Pool and baths A twenty-metre indoor pool, a gym open around the clock and two warm baths in the manner of an onsen, one for sitting and one for lying down.
  • By the station Osaka Station and Umeda are under five minutes away, which puts Kyoto, Nara and Kobe within an easy day by train.
