The hotel
A noble palace on the Corso.
Palazzo Roma stands at number 337 on Via del Corso, the long straight street from Piazza del Popolo to Piazza Venezia. The building is a noble palace of the nineteenth century, and it opened as a hotel in 2023 after a restoration led by the Milan designer Giampiero Panepinto. It belongs to the Shedir Collection, which also runs Maalot and Hotel Vilòn in Rome.
The restorers kept what the palace already had: the marble staircase, original frescoes, coffered and gilded ceilings, inlaid wood panelling, Versailles parquet and some twenty kinds of marble. The thirty-nine rooms each follow their own plan, with four-poster beds and bold stripes, and the corridors have Venetian-style floors. One room, the Sala degli Orologi, holds a collection of 150 watches.
