The hotel
A school of architecture, refurnished.
The building on Via di Monte d'Oro dates from the nineteenth century and was last used by the University of Rome, which taught architecture here. J.K. Place, the small group that began in Florence and runs a hotel on Capri, took it on and opened at the end of 2013. Twenty-seven rooms spread over three floors, in about a dozen categories.
Michele Bönan, the Florentine designer behind every J.K. Place, did the interiors, more sober than the nautical look of the Capri house, with fine materials, generous bathrooms and rosewood canopy beds in several rooms. In May 2026 the group added Casa J.K. Place Roma, twelve apartments in an eighteenth-century palazzo on Via dei Prefetti, five minutes away, with its own courtyard restaurant.
- JK Café The ground-floor restaurant and bar, serving breakfast, a business lunch and dinner, with Roman and contemporary dishes.
- Canopy beds Rosewood four-posters in the JKDeluxe Balcony Room and the master suites.
- Casa J.K. Place Apartments of one to three bedrooms nearby on Via dei Prefetti, opened in May 2026, with kitchens and a courtyard restaurant.
