The hotel
Three buildings above the Steps.
Hotel de la Ville sits on Via Sistina, at the top of the Spanish Steps, in a palazzo of the eighteenth century. For its reopening in May 2019, Rocco Forte joined it to the buildings beside it around a single inner courtyard, where Mosaico now serves breakfast and Roman dishes. Its sister hotel, Hotel de Russie, stands at the far end of Via del Babuino by Piazza del Popolo.
Tommaso Ziffer and Olga Polizzi did the interiors, mixing classical pieces and antiques with strong colour and pattern. In the Palm Court, De Gournay hand-painted the wallpaper with scenes of the local landscape. At the top of the house, the Cielo terrace has views on every side, and the Suite de la Ville has two roof terraces of its own.
- Cielo The rooftop restaurant and bar, Mediterranean cooking and cocktails with views on every side.
- Irene Forte Spa Sicilian in inspiration, with five treatment rooms, a hydropool, a plunge pool, a salt room, a sauna, a steam room and a Rasul.
- The courtyard Mosaico serves the breakfast buffet and Roman dishes in the inner courtyard at the centre of the hotel.
