The hotel
A count's palace, in apartments.
The building is an eighteenth-century palace on the edge of Bairro Alto, above the Glória funicular. It once belonged to the Counts of Lumiares, and the hotel takes its name from them. Its outside was kept, and the inside was made over into suites, each with a fitted kitchen and its own living space. There are 47 suites and six studios.
Furniture was mostly designed and made in Portugal, and the walls carry work by local artists, from posters by Maser to letterpress lines of Fernando Pessoa. A brass chandelier hangs above the grand staircase. At the top of the house, Lumi looks across the terracotta roofs of the city to the river. The spa is on the ground floor, and the penthouses at the top have private terraces.
- Lumi Rooftop Contemporary Portuguese cooking by chef João Silva on the fifth floor, with the skyline and the Tagus in front of you.
- A kitchen in every suite From the studios up, every unit has a fitted kitchen, which suits longer stays and families.
- The spa Four treatment rooms, separate saunas and steam rooms for men and women, and a gym open around the clock.

Apartments more than rooms.

- Split level Bairro Alto Mezzanine Two levels on the ground floor: a bedroom with its bathroom above, a kitchen and living room below, under high ceilings.
- Two bedrooms Two Bedroom Suite Two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, a separate living room and a fitted kitchen.
