The hotel
Rumah, the Malay for home.
The RuMa opened on 30 November 2018, the first luxury hotel outside China for Urban Resort Concepts, the group behind The PuLi in Shanghai and The PuXuan in Beijing. Its name comes from rumah, the Malay word for home. MQ-studio of Shanghai did the design, with furniture and pieces by the Malaysian designers Bernard Chandran and Joe Chia. The tower stands on Jalan Kia Peng, in the Golden Triangle.
At the entrance stand a woven bronze screen with a Moorish pattern and a bronze fountain set in a terracotta birdcage, a nod to the canaries that miners once carried underground to warn of bad air. KLCC Park is about 500 metres away. The MICHELIN Guide gave the hotel a Key in 2025 and kept it in 2026. Up on the sixth floor, the pool runs out over the edge of the building.
- Pool off the edge A 25 metre infinity pool on the sixth floor runs out beyond the side of the building, with SANTAI, the pool bar, beside it.
- The LIBRARI A room of antiques and old magazines where afternoon tea is served.
- UR SPA Five treatment rooms across half of the sixth floor, a Truefitt & Hill barber and a gym open all night.
