The hotel
Butlers on Jalan Imbi.
The Ritz-Carlton opened on 1 December 1997 on Jalan Imbi, in the Golden Triangle of shops and hotels around Bukit Bintang. YTL Corporation owns it, and YTL Hotels runs it as an all-butler hotel, with a butler for every guest whatever the room. The building is colonial in style with European touches inside. There are 364 rooms and suites, and Barack Obama stayed here on his visit to Malaysia in April 2014.
In 2016 Champalimaud Design refitted every room and suite, the restaurants and the spa, kept the traditional character and added a library, now a dining room with a carvery. Bathrooms are in marble and stocked by Asprey. Behind the hotel, Spa Village keeps its own pool in a garden. Outside, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Starhill Gallery and Fahrenheit 88 are about ten minutes' walk away.
