The hotel
Thirty-eight floors of a tower named for independence.
Merdeka 118 stands beside Stadium Merdeka, where Malaya's independence was proclaimed in 1957. Fender Katsalidis designed it with RSP KL: diamond-shaped glass facets taken from the songket pattern, and a form meant to recall Tunku Abdul Rahman's raised hand on that day. Completed in November 2023, the tower reaches 678.9 metres over 118 floors, second in height only to the Burj Khalifa.
Park Hyatt opened on 7 August 2025 on levels 75 to 112. There are 252 rooms and suites, 27 of them suites, behind large windows over the city, with generous wardrobes and soaking tubs; some suites have their own dining rooms. The spa takes Level 99. The MICHELIN Guide gave the hotel its first Key in the 2026 selection, about a year after it opened.
