The hotel

The little forest in Bukoto.

Kabira means little forest in a local Bantu language, and the club keeps its tropical trees and birdsong on Old Kira Road in Bukoto, north of the city centre. It belongs to the Speke Group of Hotels, the family of Sudhir Ruparelia's properties that also runs Speke Resort Munyonyo on the lake. The same group runs Speke Hotel and serviced apartments around the city.

Sport sets the tone. There are clay tennis courts, two glass-backed squash courts, a basketball court, a football pitch and a half-Olympic pool with a smaller one for children. The rooms were recently renovated, and they range from studios to a three-bedroom penthouse on two levels. In 2022 the Eagle reported a large extension going up on the site, with a bowling alley among its plans.

  • On the courts Clay tennis courts and two glass-backed squash courts, free for resident guests.
  • The pool A half-Olympic pool with a children's pool beside it, plus a sauna and a steam bath.
  • Bake.O.logy The club's café and bakery, with six kinds of croissant and cakes made to order.
