The hotel

A business address on Kololo Hill.

The hotel opened in 2007 on Elgon Terrace, a side street off Acacia Avenue on Kololo Hill. Kololo is one of Kampala's greener hills, home to embassies, residences and the restaurants along Acacia Avenue, and the centre lies just below it. The owner is the Ugandan businessman Patrick Bitature, whose Simba Group runs the property.

It flew the flag of Protea Hotels, the South African chain, which Marriott took over in 2014; the name now carries both. With seventy keys it stays a small, practical hotel for people in town on business. Some rooms have balconies over Kololo, and the suites are furnished in an African style.
