The hotel
On the main street since 1852.
Josef Anton Clemenz built the first hotel on this spot in 1852, in the centre of the village. About fifteen years later Alexander Seiler bought it, and the house grew with the resort. The Villa Margherita opened alongside in 1902, and over time the beds rose to about 350. The hotel keeps a red horse-drawn carriage of its own, which still meets guests at the station in a village where cars are not allowed.
Today it fills four connected buildings on Bahnhofstrasse, with turrets along the south facade. Le Petit Cervin, a hotel within the hotel, opened in December 2008, and The Residence holds serviced apartments. Many rooms look at the Matterhorn from a balcony or terrace, and many suites have a fireplace. The house belongs to Michel Reybier Hospitality and to The Leading Hotels of the World, and opens for two seasons a year.
- Spa Nescens About 1,700 square metres with indoor and outdoor pools, saunas, a steam bath and the Nescens anti-ageing treatments.
- The red carriage The hotel's own horse-drawn carriage meets guests at the station in a village closed to cars.
- Capri for the winter The team from Il Riccio on Capri cooks on the fourth floor of Le Petit Cervin, with one MICHELIN star.
