The hotel
A duke's summer house on the bay.
When the royal court took to spending summers in Cascais, the Duke of Loulé had Luís Pedro d'Ávila design him a house on the rocks above the beach. It was finished in 1873, among the first noble summer houses in the town. Locals called it the Almond Box. It sits on a rocky headland between two sandy beaches. Several families lived there until the 1960s.
In 1963 it opened as the Estalagem Albatroz, an inn of eleven rooms with a bar and a lawn where the pool now is. The Albatroz group bought it in 1982, then the Italianate palace across the street in 2000 and the White Building in 2004. Graça Viterbo refurbished the lounges, restaurant and bar in 2019. Today there are 45 rooms and six suites across the three buildings.

- Bar over the water The terrace bar juts out above the sea, for a light lunch or a drink at sunset.
- The Albatroz Yacht The hotel's own boat sails along the coast from Cascais.
