The hotel

Accor's first Mercure in Argentina.

Accor brought its Mercure brand to Argentina here, in 2014, with a hotel of about a hundred rooms on the edge of Puerto Iguazú. The site is a 600-hectare plot of the Selva Iryapú, the subtropical forest that wraps the south side of the town. The buildings sit among native trees, and the architecture was planned to respect them. It has six meeting rooms for up to three hundred people, and Welcome Argentina places it in the four-star class.

The hotel is certified at Gold level by the "Hoteles más Verdes" programme, for regional planting and saving water and energy. Guides lead walks through the Iryapú forest and visits to native communities nearby. The Hito Tres Fronteras, where Argentina faces Brazil and Paraguay across the rivers, is two kilometres away, and the entrance to Iguazú National Park about fifteen, a drive of twenty to twenty-five minutes.

Getting there

Flying to Puerto Iguazú.

Cataratas del Iguazú International (IGR) is about thirty minutes away by car, according to the hotel. Scheduled flights are domestic, mostly from Buenos Aires, and private jets use the same runway, with customs and immigration on request.
