The city
Walking the edge of the falls.
On the Argentine bank the trails lead out over the top of the falls. A small forest train carries visitors to the circuits, and the Garganta del Diablo viewpoint stands on the very edge, above the most powerful of the cascades.
The national tourism board picks September and October: the forest in flower, afternoons between 20 and 28 °C, the river running high and rainbows in the spray. Summer is hot and humid, but the trails stay open even in steady rain, and on full-moon nights the park opens for walks to the falls after dark.
- Garganta del Diablo A viewpoint on the very rim of the most powerful falls, reached by the forest train.
- Paseo de Luna Llena Guided night walks to the falls by the light of the full moon, run by the park itself.
- Hito Tres Fronteras The marker in town where the Iguazú runs into the Paraná, with Brazil and Paraguay on the far banks.
Arriving
A long runway in the forest.
Cataratas del Iguazú International lies in the forest south-east of the town, about six kilometres from the falls. Its asphalt runway, 3,300 metres long, takes any business jet with room to spare.
