The hotel
Hong Kong comes to Hyde Park Corner.
The Peninsula group, founded in Hong Kong, spent years looking for a London site. It settled on Grosvenor Place, where a 1960s office block faced Wellington Arch across Hyde Park Corner. Its parent company bought half the site from Derwent and redeveloped it with the freeholder, Grosvenor. Hopkins Architects designed the new building, and the hotel took its first guests on 12 September 2023.
Peter Marino did the interiors: mahogany-panelled dressing rooms, honey onyx bathrooms, and more than forty artists from the Royal Drawing School on the walls. The theme upstairs is British motoring and flight. A Napier-Railton racing car stands in the lobby, and the lift to the roof restaurant is made up as a hot-air balloon. Twenty-five private residences share the site.
- Brooklands Claude Bosi's eighth-floor dining room, two MICHELIN stars, under a replica Concorde with flight paths across the carpet.
- The pool A 25-metre indoor pool in the spa, with a fitness centre alongside.
- House cars The hotel's chauffeured cars take guests around town, and suite bookings include the pick-up from the airport.
