The hotel
From the Palace to Praha.
In the early 1900s Tatranská Lomnica was growing into a spa and resort village meant for the aristocracy of Europe, and in 1905 it gained a large Art Nouveau hotel called the Palace. After the First World War and the birth of Czechoslovakia it was renamed, in 1919, as the Grandhotel Praha. It still stands where it was built, at the foot of Lomnický štít.
The hotel now belongs to Tatry Mountain Resorts, which also runs the Grandhotel in Starý Smokovec. In 2016 seventy-five rooms were rebuilt as Classic rooms in the Art Nouveau manner while the hotel stayed open. The Grand Mountain Spa added pools both inside and out, including an infinity pool facing the Poprad basin. Today the house holds 108 rooms and 15 suites, in Classic and Modern styles.
- The outdoor pool An infinity pool in the open air, with Lomnický štít behind and the Poprad basin in front, closed only in bad weather.
- Saunas Finnish, steam, infrared and an outdoor sauna, open in the afternoons and evenings.
- Tatra herbs Treatments built on the region's spa tradition, with mountain herbs and forest fruits.
