The hotel

A chef's house in the middle of the island.

The white thatched house in Tinnum was built in 1784. After a thorough restoration paid for by the Göhler family, it opened as a hotel and restaurant in March 2001, with Kerstin and Holger Bodendorf as hosts. The older parts kept their Sylt character outside, while the rooms were given strong colours and contemporary furniture.

Bodendorf, better known as a chef, laid out the house himself, and it belongs to Relais & Châteaux. His restaurant, BODENDORF'S, holds one MICHELIN star, cooked today with head chef Denis Brühl. Tinnum sits in the middle of Sylt, so the beaches of the west coast and the villages on the Wadden Sea are each a short drive away.

  • BODENDORF'S The gourmet dining room, with one MICHELIN star and modern French cooking.
  • Scandinavian spa A large indoor pool, three saunas inside and one in the garden, treatment rooms and a gym.
  • Cinema Lounge A private screening room for up to nine people, and Miles Bar hung with work by Devin Miles.
