The hotel
The little brother of Le K2.
Le K2 Collections runs three houses in Courchevel, and this is the smallest. Djola is the Tibetan word for little brother, a nod to the larger Le K2 Palace. The Himalayan thread runs through the rooms too, with Tibetan crafts and materials worked into the furniture and fabrics. Capezzone Architecture designed the hotel, and the MICHELIN inspectors found it more urban in feel than most mountain addresses.
The idea, in the hotel's own words, is a city hotel in the mountains. It sits opposite the Forum in the centre of 1850, with the shops on one side and the Croisette lifts a hundred metres off. There is no restaurant. Breakfast is the main meal of the house, and in the afternoon tea is served by the fire, with pastries from Sébastien Vauxion.
- Tea by the fire An afternoon tea for hotel guests, with pastries by the pastry chef Sébastien Vauxion, served by the fireplace.
- Close to the lifts The Chenus lift is about a hundred metres away and the ski school two hundred, so mornings start close to the snow.
- A small spa A wellness area with a sauna and a hammam for an hour after the slopes.

Getting there
Flying to Courchevel.
Geneva is the main airport for scheduled flights, about two and a half hours by road, and Lyon Saint-Exupéry is a similar distance. Private jets usually land at Chambéry, 110 kilometres away; a helicopter from there takes about 25 minutes to the altiport, and the hotel is a few minutes by car from it, our estimate.
