The hotel
A fairy-tale castle on the piste.
Raymonde Fenestraz, a property developer from Moûtiers in the valley below, opened Les Airelles in 1990. The architect Richard Ferbach rebuilt a 1960s hotel in the manner of a nineteenth-century Austro-Hungarian castle, with carved wooden balconies. Two years later the Olympic committee made it its headquarters for the 1992 Winter Games in Albertville. Princess Anne and Prince Albert of Monaco were among the guests who made it their own.
In 2007 Stéphane Courbit bought the hotel, and it became the first house of the Airelles collection. Christophe Tollemer restored it, taking Empress Sissi of Austria as his muse. In May 2011 it was among the eight hotels in France named Palace in the first round of the distinction. Skis go on at the door, on the Jardin Alpin run.
- Ski in, ski out The hotel sits at the foot of the Jardin Alpin piste, with direct access to the 600 kilometres of the Trois Vallées.
