The hotel
Timber and bronze by Jing’an Park.
The PuLi opened on 4 September 2009 in a 26-storey tower designed by the Japanese firm Kume Sekkei, at the corner of Changde Road beside Jing’an Park. Inside, the materials come from close by: dark local timber, cast bronze, air-dried clay tiles, grey Shanghai brick and stone worked by hand. It is the flagship of The PuLi Group and a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.
The park does much of the work. Rooms look over its trees towards the skyline, and Phénix, the French restaurant on the second floor, sits in three linked pavilions of dark wood facing the green. Phénix has held a MICHELIN star since it opened in 2016. Downstairs, the Long Bar is sunk into the lobby and runs for thirty-two metres; the pool, the gym and the spa share the third floor.
- The Long Bar Thirty-two metres long and sunk into the lobby floor, for afternoon tea by day and cocktails until late.
- Pool and spa A 25-metre infinity pool, a gym, sauna and steam rooms, and The PuLi Spa, all on the third floor.
- Jing’an Park The hotel stands among the park's tall trees, in the Jing’an Temple neighbourhood.
