The hotel
Glass among the lane houses.
Xintiandi is the low-rise quarter of restored shikumen houses and cobbled lanes south of People's Square, turned into restaurants, shops and bars. The Langham opened on its edge on 15 October 2010, a tower clad in mirrored glass on Madang Road, with Huaihai Road and its fashion houses next door and the Bund a short drive east. It has 357 rooms, 41 of them suites, and a grand ballroom with eight meeting rooms beside it.
Peter Remedios designed the interiors. A chandelier three storeys tall hangs in the lobby atrium, and the rooms are done in dark wood and lacquer, a modern reading of Chinese styles. Five club floors have butlers on call around the clock. T'ang Court cooks Cantonese food, and in 2026 it is one of twelve restaurants in Shanghai with two MICHELIN stars.
- T'ang Court Cantonese cooking with two MICHELIN stars in the 2026 Shanghai guide, and a Forbes Four-Star Restaurant in 2025.
- Chuan Spa The Langham's spa, alongside an indoor pool, a gym and a sauna.
- Club floors Five floors of club rooms and suites, with butlers on call day and night.
