The hotel
Beaux-arts on the Caspian.
The hotel looks a century old and opened in September 2012. The architects, Reardon Smith, drew a new nine-storey building in the French Beaux-Arts manner, with corner turrets, for a site on Neftchilar Avenue between the seafront promenade and the walls of Icherisheher, the Old City listed by UNESCO. Across a park, the Caspian fills the windows. Of the 171 keys, 29 are suites.
Richmond International designed the interiors, more contemporary than the stone outside, as the MICHELIN Guide notes. The Segah ballroom is dressed in an eighteenth-century French style. In 2025 Forbes Travel Guide gave the hotel five stars, and renewed them in 2026; no other hotel in Azerbaijan holds them. The MICHELIN Guide gives it two Keys, the highest rank of any hotel in the country.
