The hotel
Rodeo Drive since 1928.
Walter G. McCarty opened the Beverly-Wilshire Apartment Hotel on 1 January 1928, on land that had been the Beverly Hills Speedway. Walker & Eisen designed it in Tuscan stone and Carrara marble, facing Wilshire Boulevard where Rodeo Drive begins. In 1971 Hernando Courtright added a tower wing at the back, doubling its size. Between the wings runs El Camino Real, a cobbled drive lit by gas lanterns from a castle in Edinburgh.
Elvis Presley, Warren Beatty and John Lennon all lived here for long stretches, Barbara Hutton spent her last years in the hotel, and in 1990 Pretty Woman was set here. Four Seasons has run the hotel since 1992 and plans to end its management in December 2028. Richard Meier designed CUT in 2006, and a renovation of 2022 refreshed the rooms. The MICHELIN Guide gives it two Keys.
- CUT by Wolfgang Puck The steak house designed by Richard Meier, in the hotel since 2006 and listed in the MICHELIN Guide.
- The spa Rated Five-Star by Forbes, with a water wall curving round the largest amethyst geode in California.
- The pool A Mediterranean-style pool with its own bar and café, overlooked by a two-storey gym.
