The hotel
The pink palazzo of Ravello.
The building went up in the twelfth century as Palazzo Sasso, home of a noble family, and later became a hotel. From 1928 the Vuilleumier family ran it as the Hotel Palumbo, until they moved across town to Palazzo Confalone in 1978. The palazzo then stood empty for nineteen years before reopening in July 1997. The Sasso family, who gave it its first name, had settled in Ravello around 1710.
The Avino family took it on, and in 2013 gave it their name. Three sisters, Mariella, Attilia and Mariavittoria, run it now, with Mariella as managing director. They have filled the rooms with art, mostly modern and contemporary. Ravello calls it the pink palazzo, for the colour of its walls high above the sea. Dinner is at Rossellinis, on the terrace, which holds one MICHELIN star.
- Clubhouse by the Sea The hotel's own beach club at Marmorata, about fifteen minutes by car, open from May to October, with a free shuttle from 9.30 am.
- Pool and spa A heated outdoor pool twenty metres long, a spa beside it, and a rooftop solarium with an infinity hydropool.
- Lobster & Martini Bar From 6 pm, lobster with Champagne and a list of a hundred martinis.
