The hotel
A palazzo on Piazza Minuta.
Scala is the oldest town on the Amalfi Coast, about three kilometres across the valley from Ravello. Palazzo Pascal began as an aristocratic house in the Middle Ages, and its vaulted ceilings and majolica floors are still in place. The hotel is an albergo diffuso: seven suites in the palazzo, two more off a courtyard by reception, and four rooms in a garden house.
It is run by a family whose main business is the Pascal ceramics house in Ravello. Their tiles turn up in every room, and the bathrooms carry Trussardi products. The palazzo is listed with Residenze d'Epoca and the Registro Italiano delle Dimore Storiche di Eccellenza. From the palazzo suites the view runs across to Ravello and the coast. Gli Ulivi, the restaurant, cooks with produce from the Amalfi Coast.
- Gli Ulivi The hotel restaurant cooks local dishes with produce from the Amalfi Coast.
- Cooking with Nonna Maria A cooking class in the hotel, alongside wine tastings.
- The garden house Four rooms with part sea views and a heated hydromassage pool in a Mediterranean garden.

Flying to Amalfi.
Naples International is the main airport for scheduled flights, about an hour and a half by road, our estimate. Private jets can also use Salerno Costa d'Amalfi, about fifty minutes away by car, again our estimate. The last stretch climbs from the coast road at Atrani up the valley to Scala.
