The hotel
Mid-century on the Amalfi cliffs.
Two hotel families from Ischia bought a 1960s hotel on the cliff west of Amalfi, ninety metres above the sea, and spent almost four years on it. Work began in 2018, led by the architect Rino Gambardella, and craftsmen from the coast stayed on site for years. The hotel opened in August 2021, the first new luxury hotel on the Amalfi Coast in fifteen years.
The modernist shell was kept. Inside, the owners placed pieces from their own collection of mid-century design, reupholstered in Italian fabrics, alongside Molteni&C furniture, hand-painted tiles and Venetian glass lamps. Most rooms look over the water towards the fishing village of Conca dei Marini. Down the cliff, a lift reaches the private beach club. In 2026 the MICHELIN Guide gave the hotel three Keys, its highest rating.
- The beach club A private beach at the foot of the cliff, reached by lift or through the terraced gardens, with lunch at AQVA and a dock for arriving by boat.
- Alici Chef Crescenzo Scotti's terrace restaurant, with one MICHELIN star for Campanian classics cooked with care.
- Suites with pools The larger suites have their own terrace or garden with an infinity pool above the sea.
