The hotel
A jeweller's hotel on Knightsbridge.
The Bvlgari opened on 28 May 2012, and the group describes it as the first new luxury hotel built in London in forty years. It stands on Knightsbridge a short walk from Hyde Park. The Milan studio Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel designed the building and its interiors; Flaviano Capriotti led the project for the studio. Its pastry and chocolate are in the hands of Gianluca Fusto, chef in residence.
There are only eighty-five rooms and suites, and they are large for London: the smallest measure forty square metres. Much of the hotel lies underground. The spa fills two floors below street level, and the private cinema there has forty-seven seats and is dedicated to Sir Richard Attenborough. At the top of the range, the seven Bvlgari Suites run from 160 to 220 square metres. In the ballroom hang two chandeliers of handmade solid silver.
- The spa Two thousand square metres over two floors, with a 25-metre pool, a vitality pool tiled in gold leaf mosaic and eleven treatment rooms.
- The cinema Forty-seven seats, 2D and 3D, and a library of more than three hundred films.
- Sette The ground-floor Italian restaurant, the first London address of New York's Scarpetta.
