The hotel
Old Riga, a few steps from the cathedral.
The hotel fills a seventeenth-century residence on Miesnieku iela, a side street in the UNESCO-listed old town, a short walk from the Dome Cathedral, Riga Castle and the Daugava. The restoration kept the wooden staircase, the old doors and fragments of painted walls. The house is now a boutique hotel in the I Castelli group, and the old staircase and painted walls sit beside modernist design furniture.
There are only fifteen rooms and suites, each furnished differently, from rooms of about 22 square metres to suites of about 45. In the larger suites, classical ceilings and old frescoes sit above mid-century modern furniture. Up on the fifth floor, the Finnish sauna looks across the rooftops to the cathedral, and in summer the roof terrace becomes a bar and dining room with the same view.

Flying to Riga.
Riga International Airport is nine kilometres west of the centre, about twenty minutes by car by our estimate. It takes scheduled flights and private jets round the clock, and the hotel books private transfers.
