The hotel

The old American embassy.

In the 1930s this house on Ausekļa iela was the embassy of the United States. In 1939 a Harvard student of twenty-two, John F. Kennedy, stayed in the rooms that are now the Presidential Suite. The street lies in the embassy district, known in Latvian as Klusais centrs, beside the trees of Viestura dārzs. Twenty rooms now fill the old house and its extension.

The hotel opened in 2021 and takes its name from the address. CBP Design kept the plaster mouldings and parquet, then added wood panelling, curved counters and lounge chairs from the middle of the last century, along with a new wing. The first Baltic MICHELIN selection gave it one Key, and the chef's table already held a star. Breakfast is served à la carte.

  • JOHN Chef's Hall A small dining room around an open kitchen, with a tasting menu of seasonal Latvian produce and one MICHELIN star.
  • The Kennedy suites The Presidential Suite JFK and the First Lady Suite JBK, named for John and Jacqueline Kennedy.
  • Gym and sauna A gym open around the clock and a sauna, for a hotel of only twenty rooms.
