The hotel
A family house among the vines.
Château de Valmer began as a bourgeois residence on the edge of La Croix-Valmer, on the far side of the peninsula from Saint-Tropez, about sixteen kilometres away. The Rocchietta family has owned it since the 1940s and ran it first as a guest house. It has stayed in the same hands for more than three generations, and joined Relais & Châteaux in 2017.
The park covers about five hectares and is classed a Jardin remarquable. Palm avenues and cypress walks cross it, vines surround it, and an organic kitchen garden supplies La Palmeraie, which holds one MICHELIN star. A path lined with palms runs towards the sea and Gigaro beach, which looks out to the Îles d'Hyères. Two tree houses sit in old oaks above the vines.
- The kitchen garden Vegetables and herbs grown organically on the estate go straight to La Palmeraie, where Thomas Pezeril cooks.
- Two tree houses Built in hundred-year-old oaks above the vines, for two or for a family of four.
- The beach Gigaro is a short walk away. Guests also use the private beach at La Pinède Plage, the sister hotel, with a shuttle between the two.
