The hotel

Where the conservatory used to be.

Martin Borch, the Royal Building Inspector, finished this building in 1903 for the Royal Danish Academy of Music. It runs 105 metres along Niels Brocks Gade over six floors, a few steps from Tivoli and the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek. Students practised here for more than a century, until the academy moved out to the old broadcasting house, Radiohuset, in 2008 and the rooms fell silent.

The property company Balder bought the building in 2015, and it opened as Nobis Hotel Copenhagen two years later, a sister to Nobis in Stockholm. Gert Wingårdh's studio did the interiors in marble, wood and glass, with soft colours under the original high ceilings and tall windows. The MICHELIN Guide gave the hotel a Key in its first Nordic selection.
