The hotel

From department store to planted hotel.

The building on Krystalgade opened in 1933 as Daells Varehus, a department store in the old Latin Quarter. Decades later it became Hotel Skt Petri. In 2025 it reopened as 1 Hotel Copenhagen, the first hotel of the brand in continental Europe, after a full redesign. A living wall climbs the facade, and atriums, terraces and small gardens break up the floors inside.

The materials were chosen with reuse in mind. Reclaimed planks and brick tiles line the lobby and restaurants, and much of the old furniture was salvaged and refitted. Heat comes from Copenhagen's district network, fired by waste and wood chips, and the power is backed by Scandinavian hydro. The MICHELIN Guide gave the hotel a Key in its first Nordic selection and kept it in 2026.

  • PÆRE The hotel's dining room and bar, cooking with local and seasonal produce, with cocktails built on foraged botanicals.
  • The Farmstand Local fruit in the lobby, free for guests.
  • Field House A gym open around the clock, with classes in movement and recovery.
