The hotel

A tower on the rowing canal.

Silk Road Samarkand was built in about two years on some 260 hectares at Konigil, on the eastern side of the city, around a rowing canal. Eight hotels stand along its banks, four on each side, with a congress centre and the Eternal City, a historical and ethnographic quarter of more than ten hectares. In September 2022 the complex hosted the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.

Silk Road by Minyoun sits in the business cluster on the north bank. Minyoun Hospitality runs it, and its younger sister, Lia! Stars of Ulugbek, stands next door. The decoration follows the old caravan routes, and the names follow China: YI Palace for dinner, the Li Bai bar after the Tang poet, the Ming Lounge in the lobby. The Registan is about twenty minutes away by car.

  • Li Bai Lounge Bar On the twentieth floor, with panoramic views from the bar.
  • YI Palace Chinese cooking in a dining room dressed in the same spirit, one of two restaurants in the hotel.
  • Mirage SPA & Wellness The spa and wellness centre, on the second floor.
