The hotel
Carved wood by the station.
Said Islom Khodja is a recent hotel on El Obod Street, outside the walls of the old town and next to Khiva's railway station. It shares its name with Islam Khodja, the grand vizier who built a madrasa and a minaret of forty-five metres inside Itchan Kala early in the twentieth century. Both still carry his name and stand inside the walls, about two kilometres from the hotel by road.
The hotel is built in the old manner of the region: columns, arches, carved ganch and wood, patterned ceilings, carpets and chandeliers. Fifty-seven rooms look onto a courtyard with an outdoor pool, shaded and set with loungers in summer. The Tosh-Hovli palace, inside the walls, is about a seventeen-minute walk. Breakfast is a buffet, and there is a restaurant, a bar and a lounge.

Flying to Khiva.
Urgench International is about 30 kilometres away, a drive of around fifty minutes. Since September 2026 an electric train has linked the airport with Khiva in 42 minutes, and the hotel stands next to the station. Private jets also use Urgench, which clears them through customs and has VIP and CIP halls.
