The hotel
Outside the north gate.
Bek Khiva is one of the newer hotels in the city, a three-storey building on Najmiddin Kubro Street, close to the northern gate of Itchan Kala. It keeps to a small scale, with a restaurant under the hotel's own name, a bar and a garden. Inside, tour operators describe a plain, classic style in light colours, with little ornament, and a lift serves the floors.
Walking is the point of staying here. The Nurullaboy Palace is about five minutes away, and through the walls the Kalta Minor and the Kunya-Ark citadel are some nine minutes on foot. The rest of the old town, its madrasas, minarets and the Juma Mosque, lies within the same walls. The suites measure fifty square metres, with a sitting room and a bed two metres wide.
- Near the north gate Dishan Kala, the outer town, is a three-minute walk, and the Kunya-Ark about nine.
- Suites of 50 square metres Two-room suites with a king-size bed and a separate sitting room.
- Garden and café A garden and a summer café alongside the Bek Khiva restaurant.
